Eye Care Medical Group was founded in 1978 by Doctor Keith S. McKenzie, a pioneer in the specialty of cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation. For over thirty years, Eye Care Medical Group has been recognized as one of Monterey Bay’s finest and most progressive centers for ophthalmic care. In 1996, Doctor Christen Allaman joined the practice. Building on our tradition of excellence, Eye Care Medical is committed to the protection and preservation of the treasured gift of sight. Eye Care Medical Group offers comprehensive clinical eye services that include medical and surgical evaluation and management of ophthalmic conditions and diseases, including but not limited to the following areas of focus: cornea, cataract, glaucoma, retina, diabetes and dry eye. Our highly experienced team of doctors, technicians and staff is dedicated to providing the highest quality, most technologically advanced and consistent care in an environment where the safety, dignity and comfort of each patient is paramount.
Advanced Technology
Eye Care Medical Group and Cypress Outpatient Surgical Center is equipped with the latest in diagnostic and surgical technologies to deliver state of the art ophthalmic care. Our surgeon offers the latest refractive procedure technology with the use of lifestyle intra-ocular lenses (IOLs) in cataract and refractive IOL surgery, designed to reduce dependence on eyeglasses after surgery.
Experienced Surgeon
An expert in his field, Dr. Christen Allaman is a skilled, board-certified, experienced ophthalmologist who has dedicated his medical career to improving patients’ lives. Dr. Allaman has performed thousands of procedures on patients’ eyes, and is an expert in small incision, sutureless cataract surgery with intraocular lens implants, as well as laser surgery for glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. Additionally, in 2008, Dr. Allaman became one of the first eye surgeons in the state of California to implant the new accommodative intraocular lens implant, the Crystalens.
Cypress Outpatient Surgical Center
Cypress Outpatient Surgical Center, founded by physicians in 1984, was planned “from the ground up” to ensure the highest quality of care and comfort. Our specialty surgical suites, recovery rooms and safety equipment exceed both State and Federal standards. The Cypress Outpatient Surgical Center is licensed by the California State Department of Health Services, is Medicare certified and has been awarded the Certificate of Accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC). The AAAHC award means that the Cypress Outpatient Surgical Center has met nationally recognized standards for quality care. In order to achieve accreditation, our surgical center underwent an extensive, on-site survey of its facilities and services. The survey team, composed of physicians, nurses and administrators, evaluated all aspects of patient care. The Cypress Outpatient Surgical Center staff is comprised of highly trained and skilled physicians, registered nurses and technicians dedicated to providing the highest standard of care in a warm and friendly manner.

Contact Lens Services
As part of our comprehensive care, we offer complete contact lens services and materials. Our licensed optometrist can provide you with comprehensive contact lens options, including the fitting of soft contact lenses, rigid gas permeable contact lenses, corneal refractive therapy, and other specialty lenses for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia.
